I mounted the 9MM three-slot compensator on an FHN Tactical 509. The fit and finish are first-rate, and the two-setting bolt tension gives confidence that it will stay in place. Set the torque to the recommended 25 inch-pounds. I shot 115 rounds of various factory loads of 9mm practice ammo along with Federal Micro 150g HST, Hornady Critical Defense, Winchester SX-9 self defense loads. All were impeccably fed. The reduction in felt recoil was noticeable with the decrease in vertical muzzle rise. I would highly recommend to my fellow pistol shooters.
So I bought it after many hours of understanding my needs based on practical applications and financial considerations. Basically you can use it without loctites and you don't have to check it often because it is held in place by two hex screws that (don't touch the cylinder which is the key, it just sinks into the Copensator so it doesn't touch). i don't move I have about 300 rounds through the FN509T and know what this gun is and most importantly how it reacts after it is fired. As soon as I put the Compensator on I felt a difference after the first shot, I had little adjustments. to do because the gun was still on target! I wouldn't say that it reduced the recoil, I would say that I felt like I was shooting a 22. Instead of a 9mm! You can't beat the price, the practical design and above all the performance you will win!!!!!!
That completes my gun! Plug and play I like the hex wrench because it allows me to clean the field stop and the gun and I don't have to deal with blue loctite or loosening because it just screws on. This screw and bolt thing is perfect in its practicality!!!!!
Review: Archon Mfg Glock Compensator
Love the compensator for the 9mm, has great lines and a great look at the end of the slide. The threads were also smooth as butter. Well made product.
The Archon compensator does a good job as a muzzle lift compensator in the same range as most other highly rated compounds. However, it fits the Glock frame perfectly, either Gen 3 or Gen 4/5. Visible flash (high at night) is lower than some and quite acceptable. However, I recommend using a gun light if you plan to shoot in low light to minimize the adverse effects of the flash (I also use the Holosun red dot for the same reason. low light shooting). One of the absolute biggest features of the Archon Comp above ALL others is the way it attaches to the barrel. Instead of set screws that require loktite and tighter in the threads of your very expensive quality threaded cylinder. If you tighten a set screw into the cylinder threads, your barrel can only be used for that. The Archon splits the comp along the threaded portion and uses two set screws (no loctite required) to secure the comp to the barrel. It literally takes me two minutes to set up and one minute to take down. Unlike the other components I've used, I can easily remove the comp to properly clean my barrel and reinstall it easily. The best comp!
